🎉💙💛Emory & Henry moves to University status today! The calendar month has flipped and so has the name of Emory & Henry College to Emory & Henry University. “This is a pivotal moment in the 188-year history of Emory & Henry,” said Dr. Lou Fincher, Interim President and former Senior Vice President and Dean for the School of Health Sciences. “The transition to university status reflects the institution’s evolution and increased complexity. Over the last decade, Emory & Henry has expanded its footprint to include four campus locations from Marion to Bristol. In addition to the high-quality bachelor’s degree programs Emory & Henry has always been known for, we have expanded our academic offerings to include master's and doctorate degrees, as well as new online, adult degree completion, and certificate programs. Our transition to NCAA DII athletics is yet another example of our evolution as an institution.”Celebrations and excitement will ensue once students and faculty get to campus with new University merchandise, giveaways, updated signage, and more. #emoryhenry1836 #emoryhenryuniversityRead more at https://lnkd.in/enAFdG8n

I know I should not be so sad about this transition. . . but I'm pretty rooted in the past, I suppose. Best to EHU, and I can hope academics not athletics are at the heart of this change.

Intriguing questions in this article about ways to shorten the amount of time it takes to complete a degree, while still maintaining the integrity of academic programs. Time and money are real barriers to education for many students, and this is a prime area for higher ed to rethink some of its traditions and assumptions. (Also, great to see Chancellor Lori J. Carrell, Ph.D. and the University of Minnesota-Rochester highlighted for the innovative work they have been undertaking in this regard!)"Yes, reducing time reduces cost, but this effort isn’t just about money. The idea is to redesign the curriculum using evidence-based practices that support solid learning—the kind of innovation that promises a real payoff. The first cohort to complete the new, accelerated program at Carrell’s University of Minnesota-Rochester campus will graduate in December." #highered #studentsuccess #access #povertyinformedpractice #equity #curriculum #innovation https://lnkd.in/dirwMCc7

A national consensus has formed around George Mason University: Multiple national rankings now put us among America's top 50 public universities, top 100 universities overall, and Virginia's No. 1 university for advancing social mobility. The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Washington Monthly, and The New York Times all have released new college rankings that place us in that top tier of institutions. Even US News shot our rankings up from 63rd to 51st among public universities and 137th to 105th among all universities. These and other rankings make Mason Virginia's top university for innovation, social mobility, and inclusivity, and that's before we even get to our nationally ranked academic programs. When Mason President Gregory Washington says we're not just in the education business, but the success business, this is what he's talking about.

Here are some key points about colleges in the San Francisco Bay Area based on the search results:Top-rated universities in the Bay Area include:Stanford University - Ranked #1 in California and #2 nationally by US News. Known for academic excellence across many fields.University of California, Berkeley - Ranked #2 in California and #5 nationally. A top public research university.University of California, San Francisco - A leading medical/health sciences university.Santa Clara University - A well-regarded private Jesuit university.University of San Francisco - Another respected private university in San Francisco proper.Other notable institutions include San Francisco State University, San Jose State University, and California State University East Bay.The Bay Area has a high concentration of prestigious colleges, with Stanford and UC Berkeley in particular being world-renowned.Many Bay Area schools score highly for diversity, academics, and career prospects for graduates due to proximity to Silicon Valley and other industries. While top private universities like Stanford are very selective, there are also more accessible public options like the CSU campuses.Overall, the Bay Area is considered one of the best regions in the country for higher education, with options ranging from large research universities to small liberal arts colleges.Factors like high costs of living and competitive admissions at top schools are potential downsides, but the quality of education and career opportunities are major draws for many students.Does this help summarize the key points about Bay Area colleges and their reputations? Let me know if you need any clarification or have additional questions!Connie Dello Buono investment fiduciary 4088541883#bayareacolleges

"More Midwest: The Big Public Universities"New post up at CTAS Higher Ed Business in our continuing series on retention in US undergrad programs.Today, we look at the upper Midwest’s public universities. The results show a high-performing and healthy environment, with big schools like Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Wisconsin (Madison) delivering results notably higher than many state flagships in neighboring states. The post finds a bifurcation between the flagship/"state Us" and regional universities like Northern Iowa and Illinois State in Normal. While some regionals perform well on retention, they are as a group far below campuses like Purdue and the other big state schools. We also found two big universities that surprised us by outperforming even the elevated levels we found.Read the whole post here to find out about this surprise: https://lnkd.in/eTxTwTP8DMs at Substack are on so write if you have comments.

Proud to be part of the UC School system! UC Berkeley and UCLA tied for the best public university in the country, with six UC campuses among the top 20 and all nine in the top 40 according to the latest US News & World Report rankings. Recent Forbes and Washington Monthly rankings named UC America’s best university system. This afternoon, we kicked off this project with the strategic planning committee, and I'm reminded once again why I do what I do. Often strategic planning is an activity unfairly pegged as the less glamorous side of our roles. Some see it as busy work, destined to gather dust on a shelf. Yet, what happened today was anything but.Within one 90-minute meeting, this team of people went from general introductions to diving straight into critiquing peer and aspirant plans. This kind of critical engagement turns the usual 'strategic plan on a shelf' into something living, something actionable. I'm also incredibly excited to work closely with Maureen Cochran and Clare Creighton as the co-chairs for this effort. Their critical inquiry in the discussions leading up to this kickoff wasn't just about doing what has always been done but thinking about co-creating a true vision for the division. This process isn't about coming to the table with answers, but asking the right questions and that's exactly what they do!I'm genuinely excited to see where their leadership will take us throughout this journey. #StrategicPlanning #Leadership #HigherEducation #Innovation
